25 Nov 2008 — Attempts to get our Web site and mailing list
working again are under way. New mailing lists have been created and
hopefully the tests have worked, and we are updating content on the site as
a partner is testing and converting pages to XHTML standards, and repairing
broken links. This will likely take some time, updating a 10+ year old (700
in "dog years" Web site to modern standards. Your patience is appreciated.

Work to fix our broken Web site and mailing list has commenced, after being
fooked over well by our dealings with a "real" Web designer. Alternative
arrangements have finally been made, despite difficult circumstances.

Jhonn Balance of Coil has been dead for four years. R.I.P. Time screams by
too quickly, and mortality is a harshness that none should endure.

One member of Austere is incapacitated. As such, all musick work has
completely halted due to this situation. Situation is on-going; for now, this
project is considered in "permanent hiatus". The outcome may determine
whether or not Austere continues.

As part of a trade deal, a real Web designer has reviewed our site and will
be rewriting it. Turns out we're so far from Web 2.0 and current standards
that she said "we probably shouldn't be allowed to call it a Web
site." That said, we hope to be "XHTML and CSS compliant"
with a new site in the coming months. Not much will change as far as look
and feel but at least the site will be up-to-date.
20 Jun 2008 —
Not much work on the Austere front, but several projects in motion for
The Mystifying Oracle and Freq. Magnet is currently in the process of doing
a project with King Black Acid (an amazing Portland band) on their cover of
The Who's "Behind Blue Eyes" (Townsend) both in mixing/mastering for use in
a movie soundtrack, as well as a Freq. Magnet remix which will appear...
somewhere... someday....

Poloroid stopped making cameras last summer, although there's plenty to be
found in thrift stores, but today they closed the plant and stopped producing
film. Let's hope some Asian company picks up the business: a Poloroid photo
is unpixelated with potentially infinite resolution (which is why it looks so
weird, because we're used to pixelized photos, TV, and computer screens.)
R.I.P. Poloroid Instant Film. Word now is they are licensing the technology
and no less than Fuji Film is interested, so perhaps we'll happily remove
this entry some day.

Born on this day in 1967 was Kurt (Kurdt) Cobain, lead singer and guitarist
from Nirvana, who committed suicide in 1994 at the age of 27. It seems like
only yesterday. May you have found peace, Mr. Cobain. We miss you.

Solyaris is now available. You can order it

Much thanks to Lena & Mike for their support!

This marks the official release of our new 10th anniversary box set called
"The Sound of Silence I". More details coming
forthwith.
15 Jan 2008 —
Sadly, problems plague our Web site, and until we and/or our Web host or one
of our friends can help, it will only be "halfway" working. We will correct
it as soon as possible. Meanwhile, we hope to cull through this "news"
section and clear out the cruft, irrevelevent and out-of-date entries. As
always, wish us much luck.

As of this date, some of our Austere, all of our The Mystifying Oracle,
and some of our Freq. Magnet releases are now available for ordering through
CD Baby in digital
as well as CD format, except for the long-form pieces. Most CDs are special
packaging so we'd hope people would purchase the CDs despite how they're
dying off, and sorry that we don't write twenty 3-minute pop songs per CD but
that Just Ain't Our Thang.
